Every year on Goodreads, I take part in the Reading Challenge. I achieved 50 books in 2015 and 60 in 2016. They also helpfully provided a pictograph of everything I read this year (so far), which was an interesting retrospective. An eclectic mix of titles, many of them graphic novels. Something fun and a little different that I was asked to take part in over on Wattpad. My part came out over the weekend, but the Decameron Project will be huge when it’s completed (over 100 total short stories by all different, hand-picked authors). This is a poster/teaser designed for my last comic strip collaboration with Tim Levins, called Built to Last. Here’s the story of how it came about:
When we sent out our strip Then Comes Marriage to the six or seven major syndicates, we had an amazing response. We had two development type offers and one request to see more strips. This beat all the form letters and the one or two encouraging handwritten comments we got in reply to Rivertown News hands down. We were ecstatic.
How far would you go to make your dreams come true?
Watson Sinclair has only been in New York for a couple of hours and already he’s had a small accident in his car involving some distracting cleavage and an inconveniently-placed fruit stand. His best friend JC Dubois is a few blocks away kidnapping the editor of the Royal Features Syndicate. Watson has to pick them up and get back across the Canadian border safely with their prisoner. It didn’t have to be this way.
My latest novel “The Launch” is ostensibly about two characters with a great love of comics, pursuing their dream to become professional comics artists. They go to great lengths (think cross-border kidnapping) to achieve this goal, which may leave some readers scratching their heads and thinking, what could make someone so passionate about comics?

Here is a book I loved with a subtitle that I hate: “Writers on Literature and the Literary Life.” That sounds boring. It’s not even about that. But what it actually is, writers and famous people telling The New York Times Book Review about what books they’re reading, all time faves, and childhood reading habits, was fascinating. In fact, I was inspired to use their list of questions to complete my own By the Book Interview. Here it is.
This year’s NaNoWriMo failure had much more of a feeling of accomplishment than last year’s #fail. This year, I got a shiny 25K badge for getting halfway to the 50K word count goal. High five! That’s only half a fail compared to last year’s 8K word flameout.
